Though you may not be able to travel this summer, we do hope you are scheduling some well-deserved rest and relaxation. And while we high-five the occasional, but oh so satisfying trashy pool-side novel, we also believe this is the perfect time to catch up on some inspirational and cultivating material.
We asked our WEN Team what their most inspirational books, documentaries and podcasts are in the field of entrepreneurship and women empowerment. This is what they came up with!
Our Co-Founders, Elizabeth L. Thompson and Kimberly Whiley highly recommend that any entrepreneur reads the book E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber, which dispels the myths surrounding starting your own business and the best-seller Guerrilla Marketing by Jay Conrad Levinson which offers innovative marketing approaches for small business owners. To expand your learning, Kim swears by the Masterclass series, in which the best of the best talk about their craft.
Vice-Chairwomen Geetanjali Dhar and Nicole Graham give their thumbs up to the books Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyuzaki, on how to grow your wealth and The Pumpkin Plan by Mike Michalowicz on how to grow a business. Nicole also praises the documentary Call to Courage by Brene Brown, which is a great relatable watch about choosing courage over comfort and the podcast The Disruptive Entrepreneur.
WEN Treasurer Laurie Goldberg and WEN Administrator Christa Nuijs had their eyes opened by the books Women Don’t Ask by Linda Babcock, which changes the way you approach negotiation and Half the Sky by Nicholas D. Kristof, which explores how you can help create opportunities for women worldwide. Other recommendations are What the F*** is Going On, a thought provoking Spanish documentary about the fight for women equality and Raise the Bar, which is a must-listen podcast for any female founder wishing to grow her business!
Happy Relaxing!
